Engaged Leadership for Exclusive Change
In June 2023, Canada is bringing the best and brightest young leaders from around the Commonwealth to work together examining the problems we face, the opportunities we share, and how to build better, smarter, more inclusive organizations and communities. The 11th Duke of Edinburgh’s Commonwealth Study Conference is the development experience of a lifetime for 300 young women and men from business, government, labour, and the community sector from across the 54 nations of the Commonwealth.
Opening Plenary: June 3-5, 2023
The 300 Conference delegates arrive in Calgary, Alberta on June 2, 2023 and travel to the mountain village of Banff, situated in the Banff National Park UNESCO World Heritage Site. Opening Plenary events will take place over three days at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. Members will begin exploring the Conference theme of Engaged Leadership for Inclusive Change.
Study Tours: June 6-16
Members are assigned to a “study group” of 20 members each, with each group a microcosm of the CSC2023 diversity. Each Study Group travels to a different region of Canada – touching all 13 provinces and territories. Each day, the Study Groups engage with a wide range of organizations, individuals and situations that will stimulate their learning experience. The internal dynamic and diversity of each Study Group is central to the learning experience.
Closing Plenary: June 17-18
The Study Groups reassemble in Montréal, where each group will prepare their reports to the Conference assembly, Conference President HRH Princess Anne and Chair Darryl White, CEO of BMO Financial Group. For the selected participants from around the globe there is no cost and no financial barrier to participation. The Conference relies on generous donations from companies, governments and unions.
By supporting the 11th Duke of Edinburgh’s Commonwealth Study Conference, a donor is making a significant contribution to the next generation of decision-makers in Canada and from around the 54 nations of the Commonwealth in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Pacific and the Americas.
The Duke of Edinburgh Commonwealth Study Conferences Canada is a registered charity.
